Although Commonwealth has a stable track record of financial performance over the last four fiscal years, Half Year 2024 results broke the pattern, with returns down 2% and net profit down 8%.

Commonwealth has the lowest five-year average dividend yield of 4.05%, compared to a five-year average yield of 4.96% at Australia and New Zealand Bank; 4.64% at National Australia Bank; and 4.27% at Westpac Banking.

An analyst at Peak Asset Management has a SELL recommendation on Commonwealth Bank of Australia shares, citing recent weak financial results, concluding that the stock “trades at a premium compared to other banks and investors may want to consider cashing in some gains.”
Marketscreener.com has an analyst consensus recommendation of SE:LL on CBA, with six of the fifteen analysts reporting at HOLD and nine at SELL.
The Wall Street Journal also has an analyst consensus recommendation at SELL, with one of the seventeen analysts reporting at HOLD, six at UNDERWEIGHT, and ten at SELL.
