BHP operates in several segments: Copper, Iron Ore, and Coal. Its Copper segment focuses on the extraction of copper and other minerals like silver, zinc, molybdenum, uranium, and gold. The Iron Ore segment deals with the mining of iron ore. The Coal segment involves the mining of both metallurgical coal, used for steel production, and energy coal.
