ASX Ltd shares (ASX:ASX) are up 3.78% today at $55.13 in today’s session, one of the stock’s strongest single-day moves in months. With rising bond yields punishing more rate-sensitive corners of the market, ASX has caught a bid off a level that has previously acted as both resistance, and support.
The move appears to reflect a catch-up re-rating of a story the market already knows well. ASX delivered double-digit revenue growth in FY26 and has been widely regarded as a defensive earner within financials, yet the stock had been drifting lower in a slow, orderly retreat in recent weeks.
Looking at FY26 results from last month, the company posted operating revenue up 13.3% to $1.25 billion and underlying net profit increased 5.2%. It was also the strongest listings year since FY22, with around 100 new entities joining the boards and healthy capital-raising volumes feeding fee income. The point for bears was a 3.5% fall in statutory profit, weighed down by significant items and heavy technology and regulatory spending, a reminder that the modernisation phase is expensive.
The macro backdrop may help explain the timing. Long-dated US Treasury yields have pushed to multi-year highs and Australian yields have followed, repricing long-duration assets and encouraging a shift toward more defensive earnings streams. After an 8.85% drop in the ASX share price over the past 12 months, buyers have been increasingly willing to step in.
The Street’s view supports the catch-up, with the averae price target at $59.10 implying roughly 6.6% upside from today’s level, with sentiment generally sitting in hold territory.

The chart points to a stock that is attempting to shift momentum, looking to test the 50-day moving average at $55.90, and reclaiming the 200 day SMA at A$54.38. Short-term exponential averages are also stacked positively, and 20-day volatility is rising, consistent with an emerging trend after weeks of orderly decline. We would want to see follow-through and a a break above the 50 day, followed by a higher low to confirm the shift.
