Virgin Australia expects to lift first-half underlying pre-tax profit at least 22 per cent to about $100 million after a jump in first-quarter revenue.

Engineering group WorleyParsons is set to almost double in size after agreeing to acquire Jacobs Engineering’s energy, chemicals and resources division in a $4.6 billion deal – partly funded through a $2.9 billion entitlement offer.
