Stocks of interest on the ASX at the close on Thursday, September 27:

BGA – BEGA CHEESE – up three cents, or 0.4 per cent, to $6.82

CZZ – CAPILANO HONEY – unchanged at $20.95

Bega Cheese announced it had increasing its stake in Capilano Honey to 11.24 per cent, becoming a substantial shareholder.

BPT – BEACH ENERGY – up 15 cents, or 7.5 per cent, at $2.14

Beach Energy shares shot to a 31-year high after the oil and gas exploration company unveiled their strategy to double production in five years.

STO – SANTOS – up 8 cents, or one per cent, at $7.33.

Santos announced on Wednesday it wants to nearly double natural gas production to more than 100 million barrels of oil equivalent by 2025.

TCL – TRANSURBAN – down 8 cents, or 0.7 per cent, at $11.12.

Transurban has finalised its $9.3 billion purchase of a 51 per cent stake in Sydney’s Westconnex motorway.

ANZ – ANZ BANK – down 17 cents, or 0.6 per cent, at $27.79

CBA – COMMONWEALTH BANK AUSTRALIA – down 10 cents, or 0.1 per cent, at $70.08

NAB – NATIONAL AUSTRALIA BANK – down 12 cents, or 0.4 per cent, at $27.33

WBC – WESTPAC – down 20 cents, or 0.7 per cent, at $27.71

The financial sector closed lower for the fourth consecutive day as the sector prepares for the banking royal commission’s interim report on Friday.

BHP – BHP – down 2 cents, or 0.06 per cent, at $34.48

The materials sector was down after copper, gold and iron ore prices fell on Wednesday night.
