IPD Group shares (ASX:IPG) closed the week up 17.28%, with Friday’s session alone accounting for a 13.1% jump following the release of the company’s FY26 results. The rally marks a decisive break higher for the stock, as markets react positively to both the quality of the earnings beat and the underlying momentum in key divisions.
The sharp single-session move reflects not just relief that guidance was met, but genuine surprise at the magnitude of the outperformance across revenue, EBITDA, and cash generation metrics.
Financials Drive The Bounce At IPD Group
IPD Group posted record results for the twelve months ended 30 June 2026, with revenue climbing 16.8% to $414.3 million and underlying EBITDA rising 19.4% to $55.4 million. Underlying net profit after tax increased 17.9% to $30.9 million, while the company declared fully franked dividends of 14.7 cents per share, up 16.7% on the prior year. Operating free cash flow before interest and tax reached $46.8 million, representing an 84.4% conversion rate that underscores the quality of earnings growth.
The balance sheet emerged from the period in robust health despite the $37.5 million acquisition of Platinum Cables completed in December 2025. Net debt fell to $16.4 million by 30 June 2026, equating to a conservative leverage ratio of approximately 0.3 times underlying EBITDA. Net assets stood at $181.8 million, providing ample capacity for further organic investment or selective bolt-on acquisitions.

Growth proved broad-based across the portfolio, with the notable exception of Addelec, which experienced project timing delays. The data centre division delivered standout performance, with revenue soaring 27% to $71.5 million as digital infrastructure investment accelerated. The Platinum Cables acquisition has already begun contributing to revenue diversity, bringing specialised high-performance cable solutions for mining and resources customers into the fold. Earlier integration of the CMI acquisition continues to strengthen IPD’s position in electrical cable and accessories markets.
Management highlighted that the Addelec division faced headwinds from delayed projects, particularly the Kingsgrove bus depot contract where invoicing was pushed into the second half. While this represented a drag on otherwise strong divisional performance, management expects work to commence and contribute to future periods, potentially providing a tailwind when execution resumes.
What Lay Ahead
The question now facing markets is whether the 17% weekly rally has fully priced in the improved earnings picture, or whether IPD can sustain momentum as structural tailwinds in electrification, data centres, and infrastructure continue to play out.
The data centre segment is riding secular growth in cloud computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure, with projects typically spanning multiple years and offering better visibility than traditional construction cycles. The company’s leverage of just 0.3 times EBITDA leaves significant balance sheet capacity for further acquisitions or organic expansion without financial stress.
Working capital management will remain a focus for markets, particularly given the inventory build required to support growth. While FY26 demonstrated strong cash conversion above 84%, historically the business has required higher receivables and stock levels during expansion phases. Any softening in demand could pressure cash generation if inventory turns deteriorate.
With the IPD Group share price breaking out above the recent channel at A$5, and firmly reclaiming the A$5.50 zone on heavy volume (6x ADV) of 1.77million shares into the weekend, there is plenty to like about the setup leading into the new week.
Bull Case:

- Fully franked dividend up 16.7% appeals to income and growth investors
Bear Case:
- 17% weekly rally may have fully priced medium-term growth expectations
- Addelec project delays highlight execution risk across lumpy engineering contracts
- Cyclical exposure to construction and resources vulnerable to macro downturn
- Working capital intensity could compress cash flow if demand softens
- High valuation after re-rating leaves little margin for disappointment
