A Queensland court has ordered mining firm New Hope to curb the noise coming from its New Acland coal mine west of Brisbane.
The Land Court on Wednesday ruled in favour of noise restrictions stemming from mining activities to reduce its impact on the lives of residents in the nearby town of Acland, near Toowoomba.
It comes amid a protracted legal battle between New Hope and environmentalists fighting against plans for the controversial mine’s expansion.
