The local bourse has shrugged off its early losses to close at a fresh 13-week high despite a slumping CSL dragging down the market.

The S&P/ASX200 benchmark index finished Friday up 6.9 points, or 0.1 2per cent, at 5,998.7 points, while the All Ordinaries index closed up 4.5 points, or 0.07 per cent, at 6,116.5.

The Australian dollar meanwhile broke the 70 cent level against its US counterpart for the first time since January 2, although it had since retreated somewhat.

At 1634 AEDT, one Australian dollar was buying 69.92 US cents, up from 68.90 US cents at the close of trade on Thursday.
