CANBERRA, AAP – The federal government has announced an initial $452 million to bolster the aged care sector in light of a royal commission’s findings.

The royal commission has made 148 recommendations to the Morrison government, with the first slew of money to provide extra support for residential care providers.

“Australians must be able to trust that their loved ones will be cared for appropriately and the community should have confidence in the system. This remains our clear goal,” Prime Minister Scott Morrison said on Monday.
