Prime Minister Scott Morrison has no intention of jetting off to the White House any time soon.

Mr Morrison on Tuesday welcomed news Donald Trump was making significant progress with North Korea and was planning a second meeting with Kim Jong-un.

‘To quote the president on so many other issues, let’s just see what happens,’ the prime minister told Sky News.

‘I commend his efforts and I’m looking forward to catching up with him later in the year.’

Mr Morrison is due to meet the US president at the G20 summit in Argentina in late November.

He will cross paths with Vice President Mike Pence at several international leaders’ meetings before that.

Mr Morrison, who first spoke to Donald Trump just days after becoming prime minister last month, isn’t itching to visit Washington.

‘I have no immediate plans, no, I’ve got plenty to do just here,’ he said.

‘There’s a lot to do here and I’m 100 per cent focused on right here.’
