A quiet week is in prospect in Australia. The CBA’s Business Sales Indicator is released on Monday. The Reserve Bank also dominates the calendar of events. Governor Philip Lowe will speak at a breakfast event on Tuesday to launch ASIC’s National Financial Capability Strategy in Canberra. And Deputy Governor Guy Debelle speaks in Brisbane on Wednesday. The speech title is “Low Inflation”. The quarterly update on construction work done will be an important data release.
In the US the release of minutes from the last Federal Reserve meeting will attract interest while housing dominates the data docket. US Fed Chair Jerome Powell speaks at the annual Jackson Hole central banking symposium on August 24-25. There are no major data releases scheduled for China.
