BUY RECOMMENDATIONS
BUY – BHP Billiton (BHP)
We have been lukewarm on BHP for some time, but there’s fundamental changes happening below the surface. The new chairman Ross McEwan appears to be driving positive change, and the prize is a better balanced business with the copper division becoming more prominent. However, dividends are likely to stay around the current level as profits are re-invested. We’re not overly concerned about dividends if the global miner generates share price growth. This will depend on the company allocating its capital expenditure in a responsible and profitable manner. We believe BHP can achieve this and suggest it’s a worthy addition to portfolios at current levels.
BUY – Amcor PLC (AMC)
This global packaging maker is trading at a discount. We expect the company to generate value from the Berry Global acquisition in a deal it closed earlier this year. The company has guided for adjusted earnings per share of between 80 cents and 83 cents in fiscal year 2026. This represents constant currency growth of between 12 per cent and 17 per cent. Amcor forecasts a significant increase in free cash flow of between $1.8 billion and $1.9 billion. The stock was recently trading on an attractive dividend yield of around 6 per cent. This stock appeals, particularly if the market becomes more volatile.
HOLD RECOMMENDATIONS
HOLD – Macquarie Group (MQG)
This diversified financial services giant appeals for its steady performance over time. Net profit of $3.715 billion in full year 2025 was up 5 per cent on the prior corresponding period. It delivered a return on equity of 11.2 per cent, up from 10.8 per cent. Dividends are also enticing, with the company posting $6.50 a share in full year 2025. The company’s net profit contribution in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026 was down on the prior corresponding period. MQG has a track record of generating capital growth amid delivering solid dividends.
HOLD – Origin Energy (ORG)
The Origin share price experienced a strong September quarter. This impressive gain was mostly driven by speculation that an investment bank had been appointed to oversee the potential sale of UK business Kraken Technologies, a division of Octopus Energy, a company in which Origin owns about 23 per cent. Origin supports the confirmed separation of Kraken and Octopus, and, accordingly, we believe it will add value to the Australian company’s share price. Origin’s defensiveness also appeals in volatile markets.
SELL RECOMMENDATIONS
SELL – Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA)
The CBA share price is off its 2025 highs above $191. This was despite the bank reporting a clean set of 2025 financial year results in August. In our view, the share price rise was driven by index positioning rather than the prospect of strong financial results. Statutory net profit after tax of $10.133 billion in full year 2025 was up 7 per cent on the prior corresponding period. The shares were trading at $171.05 on October 30. The bank was recently trading on a modest dividend yield below 3 per cent. CBA is a solid performer, but, in our view, capital growth appears limited. Other stocks appeal more for potential capital growth and dividend yield.
SELL – ANZ Group Holdings (ANZ)
ANZ’s 2030 strategy has generated investor interest, but we believe it appears too aggressive. The Suncorp Bank acquisition needs to be successful. In our view, the ANZ doesn’t have a positive track record in managing acquisitions, resulting in customer attrition. The bank has enjoyed a strong run, so we would be inclined to take some profits and monitor performance and developments from the sidelines as the ambitious 2030 strategy continues to unfold moving forward.

BUY RECOMMENDATIONS
BUY – Rio Tinto (RIO)
The global miner is generating strong operational momentum. It delivered record bauxite production. The company is ramping up copper output and resilient iron ore shipments support earnings relative to muted market expectations. The copper market is tightening. The Simandou project in Africa provides valuable support to the core iron ore business. We believe the market fails to fully appreciate Rio’s asset quality, cash flow generation and copper growth potential in the medium term. We continue to like RIO around current levels.
BUY – Generation Development Group (GDG)
GDG operates in Australia’s wealth management sector. The company delivered a strong result in fiscal year 2025. Group revenue of $141.3 million was up 191 per cent on the prior corresponding period. Statutory net profit after tax of $38.2 million was up 555 per cent. Funds under management surged, fuelled by the transformative acquisitions of Lonsec and Evidentia Group. Adviser growth, rising margins and record investment bond inflows position GDG well in the superannuation space. With double digit sector tailwinds, recurring revenue and a strong balance sheet, GDG offers a rare blend of growth and defensiveness.
HOLD RECOMMENDATIONS
HOLD – SRG Global (SRG)
SRG operates a diversified infrastructure services business. SRG’s acquisition of Total AMS in the maritime space for $85 million is a top deal, adding a hefty sales opportunity. Also, the acquisition will expand pro-forma margins and contribute to higher SRG earnings. However, following the sharp post announcement rally, we are currently holders rather than buyers. The shares have risen from $2.05 on October 10 to trade at $2.75 on October 30.
HOLD – 29Metals (29M)
The share price was punished after the company announced zinc production at Golden Grove had collapsed by 84 per cent in the September quarter, triggered by a seismic event. It forced management to withdraw guidance and sent unit costs higher. Copper output held up, but market confidence faded. The diversified production base and a cash buffer of $168 million provided light relief, but disruption to zinc production remains the big overhang. However, the underlying asset quality and diverse portfolio justifies patience as the group works to resolve operational bottlenecks.

SELL RECOMMENDATIONS
SELL – Endeavour Group (EDV)
Endeavour operates liquor outlets, hotels and gaming facilities. It faces persistent weaker demand and structural profitability pressures. Retail liquor sales are challenged by subdued consumer spending amid cost-of-living pressures. Operating margins are under pressure as intense competition caps prices amid elevated input costs. Retail sales of $10 billion in fiscal year 2025 were down 1.2 per cent. We expect the shares to remain under pressure. This is one we will continue avoiding for now.
SELL – IDP Education (IEL)
The company provides international student placements. It co-owns the world’s most popular English tests. Fiscal year 2025 was impacted by restrictions on student and other migrant visas in key markets. Student placement volumes declined by 29 per cent and language testing volumes fell 18 per cent. Adjusted earnings before interest and tax of $119 million was down 48 per cent. The company is planning on market volumes falling between 20 per cent and 30 per cent in fiscal year 2026. The company expects adjusted EBIT of between $115 million and $125 million. This stock lacks appeal given the challenging industry conditions.

BUY RECOMMENDATIONS
BUY – Maronan Metals (MMA)
A strong economic case to develop the starter zone of the Maronan underground project in North Queensland has been delivered. Both onsite processing and toll treating options were provided, with standalone life-of-mine (LOM) free cash flow of $683 million and pre-production capital expenditure of $266 million. A regional toll treatment option assumes LOM cash flow of $595 million and pre-production capital expenditure of $98 million. The study highlights Maronan as a potential long life and diversified polymetallic operation. The Maronan project is underpinned by a high grade silver-lead resource, with silver representing 53 per cent of revenue after payabilities. We see strong resource growth and conversion from inferred to indicated as a key driver.
BUY – Betashares US Equities Strong Bear Currency Hedged Complex ETF (BBUS)
The objective of the fund is to generate a positive return when the S&P 500 total return index falls on any given day. If the US sharemarket falls by 1 per cent, the fund is expected to deliver an increase of between 2 per cent and 2.75 per cent in value. The opposite applies if the sharemarket rises. However, with the S&P 500 recently trading near all-time highs, the fund provides investors with downside protection should the market correct from historically overvalued levels. We believe the price of the fund is undervalued.
HOLD RECOMMENDATIONS
HOLD – Saturn Metals (STN)
This emerging gold producer in Western Australia recently raised $45 million at 58 cents a share to drive resource expansion at the Apollo Hill Gold project that currently hosts 2.24 million ounces in a single large deposit. The pre-feasibility study is well advanced and is expected to be released in December 2025 and could provide a catalyst for a share price re-rating.
HOLD – Aurum Resources (AUE)
Following exploration success at the Boundiali Gold project in Cote d’Ivoire and the successful takeover of Mako Gold, AUE now has a resource base of 3.28 million ounces, 12 drilling rigs and a management team with a track record of success. A pre-feasibility study for developing Boundiali is expected in the first quarter of calendar year 2026. A definitive feasibility study is expected in the second half of 2026. AUE has generated rapid resource growth and this is expected to continue over the medium term.
SELL RECOMMENDATIONS
SELL – Pilbara Minerals (PLS)
PLS is a global producer of lithium minerals. It has a diversified portfolio of assets and strategic partnerships in the growing battery materials sector. PLS reported an outstanding September 2025 quarter with revenue of $251 million increasing 30 per cent on the June quarter, reflecting higher prices. Unit operating costs (free on board) of $540 a tonne fell 13 per cent, reflecting the realisation of operational efficiencies. The shares have risen from $1.98 on September 12 to trade at $3.325 on October 30. The rapid and strong share price performance provides an opportunity to lock in some profits.
SELL – Coles Group (COL)
The supermarket giant reported a solid result in full year 2025. Supermarket sales revenue grew by 4.3 per cent on a normalised basis when compared to the prior corresponding period. Liquor sales were up a modest 1.1 per cent in response to cost-of-living pressures. Total group sales revenue was up 3.6 per cent on a normalised basis. In the first quarter of fiscal year 2026, total group sales revenue, released on October 30, was up 3.9 per cent on the prior corresponding period. The shares have risen from $18.47 on March 19 to trade at $22.055 on October 30. Coles has enjoyed a good run, so we would be inclined to take some profits given cost-of-living pressures are persisting in a relatively slow growing economy.
