BUY RECOMMENDATIONS

BUY – Munro Concentrated Global Growth Active ETF (MCGG)

This exchange traded fund owns between 20 and 40 global equities. It’s unhedged, so performance will be assisted or hindered by movements in the Australian dollar given its overseas focus. Main holdings include Microsoft, Amazon and Nvidia. Performance has been strong, up 35 per cent  in the past 12 months and up 20 per cent per annum since its inception in February, 2022. The fund returned 4.6 per cent for the month of October 2025. I believe the fund offers long term value. I hold MCGG in my self managed superannuation fund.

BUY – Plato Global Alpha Fund Complex ETF (PGA1)

The Plato Global Alpha Fund, established initially as a managed fund in September 2021, operates as a long/short exchange traded fund. It holds numerous positions – both long and short –  with a goal to outperform the MSCI world net return unhedged index by 4 per cent per annum over the medium to long term. The fund delivered a return of 3.35 per cent in October, outperforming the MSCI World benchmark by 0.08 per cent. The fund delivered a return of 41.93 per cent in the past year. The fund is overweight in financials and defence and is underweight in materials and energy. Contributors to its performance in the past 12 months include Nvidia, Microsoft and Broadcom. The price of the ETF has been steadily rising since mid April and I like the outlook. I hold PGA1 in my self managed superannuation fund.

HOLD RECOMMENDATIONS

HOLD – Aurizon Holdings (AZJ)

Aurizon is Australia’s largest rail freight operator. It transports more than 250 million tonnes of Australian commodities each year. Underlying EBITDA of $1.576 billion in full year 2025 was down 3 per cent on the prior corresponding period. Deferred network revenue and bulk provisions impacted earnings. However, the company expects EBITDA in fiscal year 2026 to increase to between $1.680 billion and $1.750 billion. The company is undertaking an on-market buy-back of up to $150 million.

HOLD – Origin Energy (ORG)

Origin Energy has performed strongly. The shares have risen from $9.70 on April 7 to trade at $12.095 on November 13. Origin’s investment in UK company Octopus Energy has been a success. Octopus owns and is spinning off Kraken Technologies, potentially unlocking further value for Origin shareholders. Origin owns about 23 per cent of Octopus. The share price is trading at fair value.

SELL RECOMMENDATIONS

SELL – Mesoblast (MSB)

Mesoblast develops allogenic cellular medicines for treating severe and life threatening inflammatory conditions. The company is listed on the ASX and the Nasdaq in the US. The company has been successful with its Ryoncil product since approved by the US Food and Drug Administration in late 2024. I acknowledge research and development requires a lot of spending, but MSB has undertaken numerous capital raisings during its journey amid attracting short interest, where investors bet the share price will fall. The share price can be volatile and has fallen from $3.35 on January 2 to trade at $2.305 on November 13. I prefer more stable stocks.

SELL – Super Retail Group (SUL)

The retail giant’s brands include Supercheap Auto, Macpac, Rebel and BCF. The company operates more than 750 stores. SUL has experienced upheaval that led to the dismissal of the chief executive officer and the settlement of legal action against the company brought by former employees. Upheaval can interrupt innovation and focus on company operations. We prefer to sit on the sidelines until the company  demonstrates it can totally focus on the business.

BUY RECOMMENDATIONS

BUY – WiseTech Global (WTC)

WiseTech develops and provides software solutions to the global logistics industry. The stock appears oversold, presenting a strong entry point. While management issues and investigations involving the Australian Federal Police and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission have contributed to a plunging share price, the company’s world class logistics software and proven global growth trajectory remain intact. Long term fundamentals and market leadership support a compelling buying opportunity for patient investors. The shares have fallen from $120.50 on July 28 to trade at $68.62 on November 13.

BUY – APA Group (APA)

APA is an energy infrastructure business. It has a portfolio of more than $27 billion in gas, electricity and renewable assets. APA offers stable earnings through essential infrastructure assets, providing resilience in challenging market conditions. Its regulated assets and long term contracts deliver predictable cash flows, reducing volatility. With an attractive dividend yield and defensive positioning, APA is well suited for income focused investors seeking security and limited downside risk in an uncertain economic environment. The share price has been enjoying favourable momentum since February. The shares have risen from $6.56 on February 20 to trade at $9.275 on November 13.

HOLD RECOMMENDATIONS

HOLD – Macquarie Group (MQG)

This financial services company remains a strong long term investment with a proven track record and diversified global exposure. While more volatile than traditional banks, its innovative approach and consistent performance justify retaining current holdings. For investors seeking growth with resilience, MQG continues to deliver value despite short term market fluctuations.

Top Australian Brokers

HOLD – REA Group (REA)

REA retains a dominant position in Australia’s online property advertising market, making its platform an essential industry tool. Strong management and leadership ensure continuing stability, while artificial intelligence-driven innovation offers future growth potential. Despite market fluctuations, REA’s entrenched position and strategic vision support a long term hold for investors seeking quality exposure. Revenue of $429 million in the first quarter of 2026 was up 4 per cent on the prior corresponding period. EBITDA of $247 million was up 5 per cent.

SELL RECOMMENDATIONS

SELL – Rio Tinto (RIO)

This global miner is heavily exposed to iron ore, and the stock is currently trading near elevated levels, in our view. With limited diversification compared to peers, we prefer BHP Group for broader resource exposure and stronger long term positioning. Locking in gains and reallocating to more diversified options makes sense in the current environment. The shares have risen from a closing price of $107.13 on June 30 to trade at $131.70 on November 13.

SELL – JB Hi-Fi (JBH)

Total sales growth for JB Hi-Fi Australia was 6 per cent in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026. Total sales growth for JB Hi-Fi New Zealand was 39.3 per cent. However, sustaining sales growth will be a challenge. In our view, this consumer electronics giant faces headwinds from a cost-of-living crisis, which is likely to dampen retail demand. Rising theft risks from organised gangs add further pressure to margins. With the stock trading at elevated levels and consumer spending tightening, we suggest selling JBH and re-allocating the proceeds to sectors with stronger defensive characteristics.

BUY RECOMMENDATIONS

BUY – Amcor PLC (AMC)

This global packaging giant presents an attractive opportunity for long term investors following recent share price weakness. Its acquisition of Berry Global reinforces its position as a world leader in packaging and is expected to deliver substantial cost synergies, stronger earnings and robust cash flow. Also, Amcor’s defensive market exposure combined with a recent and appealing dividend yield of about 6 per cent enhances its investment case. While risks remain, the current valuation offers potential for sustained growth.

BUY – Light & Wonder Inc. (LNW)

Light & Wonder is a global gaming technology leader with strong growth prospects. Following strategic acquisitions and divestments, the company has transformed into a high margin, content-driven business with recurring revenue of about 70 per cent. Capital management remains disciplined through active buy-backs and deleveraging, while the upcoming ASX sole listing is expected to close the valuation gap with peers. In our view, LNW offers potentially significant upside.

HOLD RECOMMENDATIONS

HOLD – Domino’s Pizza Enterprises (DMP)

The fast food giant remains a strong global brand with proven digital capabilities and a long term growth runway through store expansion and technology leadership. However, near term challenges, such as cost inflation, softer consumer demand and margin pressure limit upside potential.  Operational initiatives in pricing and cost control should stabilise earnings. It was recently trading broadly in line with historical valuation multiples. The company offers a balanced risk and reward profile, so we recommend long term investors continue to hold DMP.

HOLD – Macquarie Group (MQG)

Macquarie Group remains a high quality diversified financial services firm. It holds strong global positions in asset management, commodities and advisory, supported by robust capital and disciplined risk management. However, near term earnings growth faces challenges from higher operational costs. However, MQG’s recent elevated trading multiples amid recent periods of disrupted earnings momentum leaves the stock trading at fair value, in our view. The company reported a net profit of $1.655 billion in the first half of fiscal year 2026, up 3 per cent on the prior corresponding period, but down 21 per cent on the second half of fiscal year 2025.

SELL RECOMMENDATIONS

SELL – Pilbara Minerals (PLS)

The share price has benefited this year from positive sentiment towards lithium companies due to stronger than expected growth in battery demand and energy storage. This led to a rebound in lithium prices. However, we believe the share price has moved well ahead of fundamentals. Despite a lithium price recovery, current price levels remain insufficient for robust cash generation. With the market appearing over supplied in the medium term, we see the risk of an equity retracement supporting our sell recommendation. The shares have risen from $1.98 on September 12 to trade at $3.61 on November 13. Given the rapid price rise, we would be inclined to lock in some gains.

SELL – National Australia Bank (NAB)

The NAB differentiates itself from its major bank peers with its leading banking franchise involving small-to-medium sized enterprises. While this market offers higher returns than home lending, it’s  also higher risk. Also, regulatory capital initiatives and competition are intensifying. We don’t believe NAB’s growth outlook justifies its recent elevated trading multiples. Cash earnings of $7.091 billion in full year 2025 were down 0.2 per cent on the prior corresponding period.
