Australia’s share market has closed lower and had its worst week since April.

The S&P/ASX200 benchmark index finished down 81.4 points, or 1.39 per cent, to 5791.5 points on Friday.

The index dropped 2.91 per cent in a week where global investors took money out of play before and after the first US presidential debate.

The All Ordinaries index closed lower by 86.2 points, or 1.42 per cent, to 5983.2.

The Aussie dollar was buying 71.41 US cents at 1621 AEST, lower from 71.93 US cents after the close of trade on Thursday.
