A strange quirk of the statistical calendar is that each change of seasons in Australia is ushered in by a bevy of economic events. And so the ‘Summer Tsunami’, with more than a dozen indicators or events scheduled in the
coming week, headlined by economic (GDP) growth, home prices, building approvals, job advertisements, new car sales, retail and international trade. The Reserve Bank hands down its interest rate decision on Tuesday.

Ordinarily the US jobs data would hog the limelight in the first week of December, but investors will also be focused on the OPEC meetings in Vienna, Austria towards the end of the week.
