SYDNEY, AAP – A technology-led rally has helped Australian share market investors recover losses from the previous day.

Afterpay gained more than three per cent on Thursday as the domestic market followed Wall Street.

Global investors were upbeat as US politicians appeared close to a temporary deal to avert a federal debt default.

The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index closed higher by 50.2 points, or 0.7 per cent, to 7256.7.

The All Ordinaries closed up 55 points, or 0.73 per cent, to 7551.2.

The Australian dollar was buying 72.80 US cents at 1619 AEDT, higher from 72.63 US cents at Wednesday’s close.
