On August 28th, the stock experienced a sharp decline of up to 24% in early trading, eventually stabilizing to close 14% lower at A$15.80, after the FDA requested additional data on its kidney cancer diagnostic drug. This made Telix the worst-performing stock on the ASX 200 index that day.
The downward pressure on Telix shares began to intensify in July when the company disclosed an SEC subpoena regarding its disclosures related to prostate cancer therapeutic candidates. The SEC’s investigation centers around concerns that Telix prematurely labeled a therapy as “Phase 3 ready” without formal FDA endorsement. This revelation triggered an immediate 12% drop in the share price on July 23rd.
Despite these regulatory headwinds, Telix reported a 63% year-on-year increase in group revenues for the first half of 2025, reaching $390 million. However, operating profit decreased to $10.4 million from $27.7 million in the prior year, and the company reported a loss before tax of $4.8 million compared to a profit of $22.9 million. These declines were attributed to non-cash finance costs and increased amortization from acquisitions.
Adding to the challenges, in July, Telix announced a delay in securing FDA approval for its kidney cancer imaging agent, TLX250-CDx (Zircaix). The FDA did not accept the Biologics License Application due to issues related to sterility assurance during production.
The markets will be closely watching how Telix addresses the FDA’s concerns and the SEC investigation. The company has stated its belief that the FDA’s concerns regarding manufacturing and supply chain processes can be addressed promptly and has initiated remediation efforts.
Telix’s share performance is currently being weighed down by regulatory uncertainty and financial pressures. How the company navigates these challenges will determine the future trajectory of its stock.
