Super Retail Group shares (ASX: SUL) fell 4.19% today, primarily driven by the stock trading ex-dividend, a common occurrence following dividend declarations. The move highlights the immediate impact of dividend payouts on market valuations. Year to date, the shares remain an outperformer, up 18.91%.

Last month, Super Retail Group released its full-year FY25 results, reporting record group sales of A$4.1 billion, a 4.5% increase from the previous year. However, the company also reported a 4% decline in normalised net profit after tax (NPAT) to A$232 million and an 8% decrease in statutory NPAT to A$222 million.

Alongside the earnings report, the company declared a fully franked final dividend of 34 cents per share and a fully franked special dividend of 30 cents per share, both payable on October 16, 2025.

The recent share price movement is a typical market reaction to the ex-dividend date. The company’s performance indicates resilience in sales, supported by strategic investments and shareholder returns through dividends.
