Ramelius Resources shares (ASX: RMS) sat atop the ASX 200 leaderboard to start the week, adding 6.15% after releasing a fully funded four-year growth strategy that targets a 205% surge in gold production by FY30.
The RMS share price closed out Monday’s session at A$3.80, up 6.15% on the day, with buying sustained across the session.
What Did Ramelius Resources Report?
The centrepiece of the announcement was an upgraded FY30 production target of 560,000 to 610,000 ounces of gold at an All-In Sustaining Cost (AISC) of A$2,100 to A$2,400 per ounce.
The midpoint of that production range represents an 11% increase over the October 2025 plan and, more strikingly, a 205% step-up from the company’s expected FY26 output. At a modelled gold price of A$5,500 per ounce, Ramelius projects free cash flow of up to A$1.5 billion in FY30 alone.
For the nearer term, FY27 production guidance was set at 205,000 to 225,000 ounces at an AISC of A$2,150 to A$2,350 per ounce. The production midpoint of 215,000 ounces came in approximately 7% below the consensus range of 220,000 to 230,000 ounces flagged by analysts including UBS ahead of the release, reflecting the transitional nature of FY27 as the company moves through its heaviest development phase.

However, the AISC midpoint of A$2,250 per ounce landed roughly 10% below market estimates of around A$2,500 per ounce, a gap wide enough to shift the overall tone of market reaction firmly into positive territory.
Balance Sheet Supportive
The company’s balance sheet underpins the growth story, as Ramelius currently holds cash, physical gold, and investment securities exceeding A$1.0 billion, carries zero net debt, and has structured its growth program to be entirely self-funded.
That means no equity dilution, no reliance on expensive debt facilities, and no exposure to the kind of funding risk that has tripped up smaller peers attempting similarly ambitious expansion programs.
Driving The Ambitious Target
The flagship project driving the FY30 target is the Mt Magnet plant expansion, where Ramelius has awarded an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction contract to Primero for a new 3 million tonnes per annum processing circuit. The total projected capital cost for the Mt Magnet expansion has been revised up to A$280 million, a 26% increase from the previous estimate of A$223 million.
The company attributed the increase to broader industry cost inflation, greater fixed-price coverage built into the Primero contract, and additional infrastructure investment in roads, camp facilities, water supply, and power upgrades. Crucially, that infrastructure has been sized to support mill throughput beyond the planned 4.3 million ton gnes per annum, preserving future optionality without committing additional capital today.
Mechanical completion of Circuit 2 is targeted for the December 2027 quarter, with commercial production expected to commence in the March 2028 quarter. Mt Magnet carries a life-of-mine extending to 2043, positioning it as one of the longer-dated assets in the Australian gold sector.
What Next For RMS?
The path towards FY30 targets will not be without risks, as the Rebecca-Roe project remains subject to regulatory approval, the Mt Magnet Circuit 2 timeline is tight, and the A$5,500 per ounce gold price assumption embedded in the free cash flow projections, introduces sensitivity to any sustained pullback in the gold market. Western Australia’s construction sector also continues to face labour and materials cost pressures that have already forced one upward revision at Mt Magnet, and cannot be ruled out again.
That said, the fixed-price EPC structure with Primero covers approximately 90% of the Mt Magnet circuit capital, which meaningfully reduces the scope for further cost overruns on the largest single line item in the growth budget.
For now, markets appear willing to add their support to the guide, yet with the stock still 10% lower YTD, and 35% off the 52 week highs, near term holders will be hoping this is just the start of a larger move.
