Pro Medicus shares (ASX:PME) have jumped 8.48% to A$143.48 today after the medical imaging software provider announced a five-year, A$28 million contract renewal with Allegheny Health Network that includes expanded workflow capabilities and improved transaction-based pricing terms.

PME shares opened sharply higher and maintained gains throughout the session, having tested resistance in the A$148-A$150 range before settling back, for a strong start to the month.  A bounce is more than welcome for Pro Medicus bulls, who continue to be nursing 35% declines through 2026 so far.

Contract News Provides Welcome Boost

The renewed agreement with Allegheny Health Network marks the third term of a relationship spanning more than a decade. AHN, one of the largest integrated health networks in the Pittsburgh region, operates 15 hospitals and approximately 300 clinical sites across Pennsylvania and surrounding states.

Crucially, the new contract introduces several enhancements over the previous arrangement. Pro Medicus will deploy its Visage 7 Workflow solution across the AHN network, expanding beyond the existing viewer-only implementation. The workflow module handles imaging study routing, worklist management, and operational orchestration, functions that deepen Pro Medicus’ integration into AHN’s clinical operations and raise switching costs.

The renewal also transitions to a transaction-based pricing model with higher minimum volumes and an increased fee per imaging study. This structure offers Pro Medicus both a guaranteed revenue floor and upside leverage if imaging volumes grow, while signalling AHN’s confidence in the return on investment delivered by the Visage platform.

The AHN renewal brings Pro Medicus’ total contract renewals for fiscal year 2026 to A$125 million, a figure that provides significant revenue visibility and supports the company’s premium valuation. The A$28 million AHN deal follows closely on the heels of a separate A$16 million, five-year contract with US health network TidalHealth, bringing recent US announcements to a combined A$44 million.

Momentum

The AHN renewal fits into a larger pattern of US market penetration that has accelerated over the past year. Earlier in FY26, Pro Medicus secured a A$90 million, seven-year contract with Beth Israel Lahey Health in Boston, one of the company’s largest deals to date. In April, the company announced a five-year, A$23 million agreement with University of Maryland Medical System for Visage 7 Viewer and Workflow. A A$37 million renewal with Northwestern Medicine was also disclosed during the same period.

These wins underscore Pro Medicus’ growing traction among top-tier US academic medical centres and large integrated delivery networks, a segment that values high-performance imaging technology and is willing to pay for proven clinical and operational benefits. The company’s cloud-based architecture and transaction pricing model have proven particularly attractive to large health systems seeking to modernise legacy PACS infrastructure without prohibitive upfront capital expenditure.

Pro Medicus is also expanding its product suite beyond diagnostic viewers. Increasing adoption of its Workflow, Open Archive, and Cardiology modules is transforming the company from a point solution into an end-to-end imaging platform provider. This shift not only increases average deal sizes but also strengthens competitive moats by embedding Pro Medicus more deeply into customers’ operational workflows.

The ceiling around A$150 held firm in prior attempts to breakout in April, and there will plenty watching whether today’s momentum will sustain through the upcoming sessions. A potential breakout from this range could signify a real shift after a difficult period, although if buyers fail to step in, we are likely to see the range hold.

Bull Case:

  • AHN renewal proves deep client stickiness and expanding unit economics
  • FY26 renewals of A$125 million underpin multi-year revenue visibility
  • Workflow module adoption raises switching costs and opens upsell opportunities
  • Large US health system wins validate competitive advantage in premium segment
  • Transaction model provides upside leverage to imaging volume growth

Bear Case:

  • Premium valuation leaves minimal margin for execution delays or deal slowdowns
  • Contract concentration creates renewal risk and potential earnings volatility
  • US market penetration at top tier may face saturation constraints
  • Currency exposure to USD fluctuations could pressure reported revenue
  • Competitive response from incumbents and cloud entrants may intensify pricing pressure
