Macquarie Group Ltd (ASX: MQG) has announced the appointment of David Chang as the Head of Wealth Distribution in Asia, effective March 2, 2025. The move is part of Macquarie’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the Asian market and enhance its distribution capabilities across the region.

David Chang brings extensive experience and expertise to the role. He is currently serving as President, Chief Executive Officer, and Director at Allogene Therapeutics, Inc. In addition to his executive responsibilities at Allogene, Dr. Chang is a Director and Venture Partner at Vida Ventures LLC and a Venture Partner at Two River Consulting LLC. His role extends to being a Board Observer at Cell Design Labs, Inc., showing his depth in biotechnology management.

His academic and professional background is noteworthy. Dr. Chang holds an undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and earned his doctorate from Stanford University. He previously held significant roles at Kite Pharma, Inc., where he was Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President of Research and Development, as well as Vice President of Global Development at Amgen, Inc. His earlier career included an academic position as an Associate Professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine.

Dr. Chang’s association with leading biotech companies, such as Peloton Therapeutics, A2 Biotherapeutics, and IconOVir Bio, further illustrates his commitment and expertise in life sciences and pharmaceutical business development. In his new role at Macquarie, David Chang is expected to leverage this extensive network and experience to drive the firm’s growth objectives in the wealth management sector across Asia.
