IperionX shares (ASX: IPX) started the week out strongly, closing 6.25% higher at A$5.44 that continues a series of higher lows that has now seen the share price rally 69% from the March 21st close, less than three months ago. Momentum has clearly been building, yet IPX holders are still nursing declines of 6% YTD, as 2026 so far shapes up as a year of two halves.

Monday’s move came on a bullish day for Aussie share markets, but also with the company announcing the acquisition of critical mineral assets adjacent to its flagship Titan Project, consolidating its position in Tennessee’s Big Sandy Critical Minerals Province for what analysts are calling a remarkably low price.

The positive reception reflects investor enthusiasm for what several commentators have described as an unusually attractive acquisition price relative to the assets acquired. Trading volumes spiked materially above recent averages as the news circulated, suggesting broad-based interest rather than concentrated buying.

Acquisition Details

IperionX has agreed to acquire Covia Solutions’ Camden mineral and mining assets for US$3 million in cash, a transaction that brings together approximately 2,800 acres of property comprising roughly 1,400 acres owned and 1,400 acres under lease. The package includes mineral rights over the Camden area of the McNairy Formation, the same geological formation that hosts the Titan Project’s titanium, rare earth, and zircon mineralisation.

Critically, the acquisition delivers significant pre-processed mineral stockpiles accumulated over decades of historical silica sand mining operations. During those operations, heavier mineral fractions containing titanium, zirconium, and potentially rare earth minerals were often separated but stockpiled rather than sold, creating a ready-made inventory for IperionX to evaluate and potentially process.

The deal also transfers mining and processing equipment, a rail spur, and access to established utilities including power, water, and natural gas infrastructure. This brownfield industrial platform stands in contrast to typical greenfield critical mineral projects that must build infrastructure from scratch, potentially reducing both development timelines and capital requirements.

All material transaction conditions have been satisfied according to the company, with only standard administrative items remaining before closing.

Titan DFS

The Camden acquisition arrives on the heels of IperionX’s June 4 release of the Definitive Feasibility Study for the Titan Project, which validated the asset as a large-scale, shovel-ready U.S. critical minerals project. The DFS covered approximately 10,000 acres and confirmed Titan’s potential to supply titanium, zircon, and rare earth streams for domestic supply chains spanning aerospace, defence, electric vehicles, and advanced materials manufacturing.

By consolidating Camden alongside Titan, IperionX effectively transforms what was a single-asset story into a district-scale play across the Big Sandy Critical Minerals Province. The company can now contemplate integrated mine planning, shared infrastructure utilisation, and flexible development sequencing across both sites, with Titan’s existing permits potentially providing a pathway for accelerated Camden development.

The company has indicated it will conduct surveys, drilling programs, and metallurgical testing to assess feedstock quality and establish potential production pathways for the Camden materials. Of particular interest to markets is the prospect of accessing heavy rare earth minerals including monazite and xenotime, which would enhance the strategic value proposition given ongoing U.S. efforts to secure rare earth supply chains independent of Chinese sources.

Government Support

IperionX’s broader strategy continues to benefit from substantial U.S. government backing. The company has been awarded up to US$47.1 million by the Department of Defense through the Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment program to accelerate a domestic titanium mineral-to-metal supply chain.

This funding splits between upstream support for advancing Titan toward construction readiness and downstream expansion of titanium metal and manufacturing capacity at IperionX’s Virginia Titanium Manufacturing Campus. Recent SEC filings show ongoing drawdown of these grants, with US$4.6 million recognised as of December 31, 2025.

The government support reinforces IperionX’s positioning as a policy-aligned strategic asset rather than a purely speculative junior miner, a distinction that typically resonates with institutional investors and potential strategic partners. The company’s proprietary HAMR and HSPT titanium production processes, which target lower-cost and lower-carbon titanium metal from both scrap and eventually Titan feedstock, further differentiate its value proposition in a market increasingly focused on supply chain security and emissions reduction.

What To Watch

Funding structure announcements will be critical. Markets will watch for additional grant or loan programs tapped through agencies such as the Department of Energy, Development Finance Corporation, or Export-Import Bank, as well as any equity or strategic partner transactions. Binding offtake agreements with defence, aerospace, or electric vehicle manufacturers would provide tangible validation of customer willingness to pay security-of-supply premiums for U.S.-sourced critical minerals.

With insider buying of approximately US$2.1 million reported following earlier drawdowns, management has signalled confidence in long-term value, but execution across mining, processing, and downstream manufacturing remains the ultimate test for a company attempting to build an integrated U.S. critical minerals supply chain from the ground up.

2026 has been a notably volatile year so far for Iperionx shareholders, as IPX first fell almost 50% through the first three months, only to rebound strongly. Lower lows have come in throughout the Q2 rally, yet that A$6 ceiling sits as a level that will need to be broken if higher highs are to signal a bullish break.
