Hub24 shares (ASX:HUB) surged to a new all-time high before retreating yesterday, highlighting the stock’s volatile yet ultimately positive trajectory amid strong financial results and bullish analyst sentiment. The inability to sustain gains above A$110 suggests a key resistance level is in play.

HUB reached a peak of A$111.72 during the most recent session before reversing course, closing at A$104.84. This represented a 4.33% decline on the day, despite the stock’s impressive 52.18% year-to-date gain.

The recent surge is underpinned by strong financial performance. In FY25, Hub24 reported a 24% increase in total revenue to A$406.6 million. Underlying net profit after tax (NPAT) rose by 44% to A$97.8 million. The company declared a dividend of A$0.32 per share for the six months ending June 30, 2025, and a 47% increase in total dividends per share for the year.

Record platform net inflows also contributed to the positive sentiment. Q2 FY25 saw net inflows of A$5.5 billion, bringing total Funds Under Administration (FUA) to A$120.9 billion. This growth was attributed to strong equity market performance and strategic migrations, including those from Equity Trustees.

Analysts have taken note of Hub24’s performance. Morgan Stanley increased its price target on Hub24 shares, citing expectations of continued FUA growth and market share expansion. The firm noted the company’s “strong value proposition and potential for outsized share gains as it scales and reinvests in its products and services,”.

Hub24 has also been actively engaged in share buybacks, aiming to enhance shareholder value, whilst signalling management’s confidence in the company’s future prospects.

The stock’s inability to hold above A$110 suggests that some traders are taking profits after the recent run, with the bulls putting up a fight at the psychologically important level. While the underlying fundamentals remain strong, the technical resistance is worth keeping an eye on in any future moves.

Bull Case:

  • Strong FY25 results with revenue and profit growth.
  • Record net inflows and FUA demonstrate market leadership.
  • Positive analyst upgrades and price target increases.

Bear Case:

  • Resistance at A$110 proving sticky.
  • Recent pullback indicates profit-taking, or potentially some consolidation.
  • Market volatility could impact FUA growth.
