DroneShield shares (ASX:DRO) were one of the leading names on the ASX200 today, closing 8.12% higher at A$3.33. This surge adds to an already impressive monthly gain that now stands at 77.13%. While the stock experienced a 310% increase during 2025, it remains over 50% below its 52-week high of A$6.70, reached earlier in the year. Volatility has come to be expected here, as the counter-drone technology company is navigating a period of rapid growth and market recalibration.

The company’s recent success has been underpinned by significant developments. In June 2025, DroneShield secured a record A$61.6 million contract with a European military customer, exceeding its entire 2024 revenue of A$57.5 million. This deal includes handheld detection and counter-drone systems, highlighting the demand for its technology. The company also reported a 480% increase in revenue in the second quarter of 2025, reaching A$38.8 million, and has A$176.3 million in committed purchase orders for 2025 delivery.

However, the company faced headwinds following substantial insider share sales in November 2025, totaling around A$70 million, which triggered a sharp decline in the share price. In response, DroneShield announced plans to tighten governance, including mandatory minimum shareholdings for insiders and overhauling trading and disclosure policies.

Analysts remain largely positive on DroneShield’s prospects. Bell Potter Securities reaffirmed a ‘Buy’ rating with a target price of A$3.70, while Shaw and Partners set a target of A$3.60. These endorsements are concurrent with the planned expansion of manufacturing capacity from A$500 million to A$2.4 billion annually by the end of 2026, including a new 3,000 sqm production facility in Sydney.
