Dicker Data shares (DDR: ASX) has powered to a fresh two-year high of A$11.55, capping a remarkable 38% rally off its April 2 close as markets reward the IT distributor’s pivot toward artificial intelligence infrastructure and a decisive beat on full-year earnings guidance.
The DDR share price heads into the final trading session of the week at A$11.55, marking a 13.4% gain year-to-date through 2026 and representing its strongest level since mid-2024. The ten-week surge from approximately A$8.37 on April 2 has been underpinned by a range of fundamental catalysts, with the company’s February 26 full-year result serving as the primary inflection point for sentiment.
Dicker Data’s FY25 results, released in late February, delivered net operating profit before tax of approximately A$125 million, up around 10% year-on-year, while earnings per share climbed roughly 8-9% to about 47 cents. Both figures exceeded management’s prior guidance despite what the company characterised as a challenging IT spending environment. More significantly, management highlighted a structural shift in revenue mix toward software, cloud subscriptions, and AI-related solutions, categories that command materially higher margins than traditional hardware distribution.

The AI narrative gained further traction when Dicker Data announced it had been selected as the distribution partner for Australia’s first “Sovereign AI factory,” a flagship reference project that positions the company at the centre of the country’s emerging AI infrastructure build-out.
Management described FY25 as a “pivotal year” in the company’s strategic evolution, emphasising a move beyond commodity hardware distribution into solutions, services, and AI enablement. The company also added more than 17 new vendor partnerships during the year, including higher-value names such as VAST Data, BMC, CrowdStrike, and Shure, broadening its addressable market and reinforcing its role as a critical channel partner for over 12,000 resellers across Australia and New Zealand.
Markets received further validation of the turnaround story in late May, when Dicker Data’s AGM trading update confirmed that the momentum seen in the second half of FY25 had carried into the first half of FY26.
The Chair’s address struck a decisively forward-looking tone, reiterating confidence in structural IT spending growth, ongoing AI-related opportunities, and continued channel expansion. On the day of the update, shares spiked approximately 8% intraday, a move that appears to have marked the technical inflection from recovery mode into a sustained uptrend. UBS maintained a Buy rating following the AGM, with commentary noting that the strong trading update underpinned above-market growth expectations and reduced downside earnings risk.
The shares now trade at their highest level in two years, but the 38% rally in ten weeks leaves the stock more vulnerable to any hiccup in execution, a macro downturn in IT capital expenditure, or a faster-than-expected normalisation of the Windows refresh tailwind.
