The ASX All Ords Gold index (XGD) has broken new ground, surging past the 14,000 level as gold prices continue their record-breaking rally, driven by expectations of U.S. Federal Reserve interest rate cuts. The index, which tracks the performance of Australian gold mining companies, has seen a significant boost from the rising price of gold, which has exceeded $3,600 per ounce.

All Ords Gold Hits New Highs

The ASX All Ords Gold Index has increased +69.34% as of midday trading today, reflecting the strong performance of its constituent companies. The surge is directly correlated with the price of gold, which has been trading near record highs following weaker-than-expected U.S. economic data. This data has increased market anticipation for the Federal Reserve to ease monetary policy, making gold, a non-yielding asset, more attractive.

ANZ Group recently revised its year-end gold price target upwards to $3,800 per ounce, with a potential peak near $4,000 by June 2026. This revision is based on strong investment demand, central bank buying, a weaker U.S. dollar, and increasing global uncertainty. Central bank gold purchases are projected to remain robust, with analysts estimating 900-950 metric tons in 2025, driven in part by China’s ongoing buying streak.

Goldman Sachs has also weighed in, projecting a potential surge to nearly $5,000 per troy ounce if political actions threaten the Federal Reserve’s independence. The firm notes that gold has already surged 35% in 2025, driven by investors seeking protection from political instability and rising debt. The prospect of a politicized Fed favoring interest rate cuts could further fuel long-term inflation concerns, reducing demand for U.S. Treasuries and driving investors towards gold.

Cantor Fitzgerald has also adjusted its gold price projections upwards, setting a near-term target of $3,600 per ounce, up from its previous estimate of $2,400. The firm highlights gold’s impressive year-to-date rally, marking its best start to a year since 1986.
