Western Sydney will benefit from a boost to its workforce following the awarding of a $16.2 million contract to house 200 workers for the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport project.
This contract is a significant milestone in the delivery of the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport project which is jointly funded by the Australian and NSW governments.
Minister for Transport, Veterans and Western Sydney David Elliott said the NSW Government awarded the contract to ‘Built’ to start work on the construction of a dedicated project site.
“The signing of this contract is great news for the St Marys economy and signals the progress being made on the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport project,” Mr Elliott said.
“The signing of this contract will see an influx of contractors and tradespeople to the area which will deliver significant benefits to a vast array of local St Marys businesses.

“The new project site in Harris St, St Marys, will house more than 200 contractors working on the Stations, System, Trains, Operations and Maintenance contract and more than 300 to 400 tradespeople will be working on the construction of the building over the next several months.
“The driverless 23-kilometre metro line will be a vital transport link from St Marys to the centre of the new Aerotropolis at Bradfield via the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport, with six stations to be built along the alignment.
The four storey building has been cleverly designed so it can be disassembled and reassembled, providing opportunities for reuse on future Sydney Metro or other Transport for NSW projects.
