SYDNEY, AAP – A late surge in trade has helped the Australian share market close at an all-time high before the weekend.
The ASX’s rise came from a low base. The market traded flat for most of the day after Victorians joined millions of people in NSW and southeast Queensland in COVID-19 lockdown.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index closed higher by 27.3 points, or 0.36 per cent, to 7538.4.
The All Ordinaries closed up 26.9 points, or 0.35 per cent, to 7806.5.
Technology shares fared best and were up 2.07 per cent.
The Australian dollar was buying 73.88 US cents at 1623 AEST on Friday, lower from 73.93 US cents at Thursday’s close.
