Australia’s share market has closed more than one per cent higher and above 6,000 points after a late flurry from investors.

The S&P/ASX200 benchmark index closed up by 63.0 points, or 1.06 per cent, at 6007.8 points on Tuesday.

The index was at 5991.9 at 1600 AEST, before the adjustment.

The All Ordinaries index finished higher by 60.3 points, or 0.98 per cent, to 6190.2.

The Aussie dollar was buying 72.97 US cents at 1620 AEST, higher from 72.77 US cents at the close on Monday.
