The Australian share market has opened lower despite Wall St hitting fresh record highs, with the energy sector leading losses.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down 15.3 points, or 0.24 per cent, to 6,370.3 points at 1015 AEST on Monday, while the broader All Ordinaries was down 13.2 points, or 0.20 per cent, to 6,460.0.
The energy sector fell 1.1 per cent as a whole in the first fifteen minutes of trade after oil prices slumped three per cent at the end of last week.
The telecommunications and financial sectors also fell, 0.65 per cent and 0.59 per cent respectively.
The Aussie dollar was buying 70.45 US cents from 70.25 on Friday.
