The Australian share market is expected to open flat.

The SPI200 futures contract was down 4 points, or 0.06 per cent, at 6,617.0 at 0700 AEST, suggesting a small dip for the benchmark S&P/ASX200 on Friday.

Wall Street finished higher overnight, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average closing up 0.94 per cent, the S&P 500 up 0.95 per cent – reaching a new high – and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite up 0.80 per cent.

The Aussie dollar is buying 69.23 US cents from 69.05 US cents on Thursday.
