The Australian share market has snapped its four-day winning streak, bypassed by broader gains in the Asia Pacific region.

After being up as much as 20.4 points around midafternoon, the S&P/ASX200 benchmark index faded in the final two hours of trading to finish on the lows of the day, down 43.3 points, or 0.71 per cent, at 6,014.6 points.

The All Ordinaries index closed down 37.8 points, or 0.61 per cent, at 6,125.9.

The Australian dollar was buying 69.72 US cents, up from 69.36 US cents at the close of trade on Friday.
