Australia’s share market has finished higher following a good lead from the US, where investors returned to buying technology stocks.

The S&P/ASX200 benchmark index closed up 29.9 points, or 0.51 per cent, to 5908.5 points on Thursday.

The ASX200 rose to a session high of 5955.7 in the first 20 minutes of trading before easing for most of the remainder.

The All Ordinaries index finished higher by 31.1 points, or 0.51 per cent, to 6090.0.

The Aussie dollar was buying 72.82 US cents at 1622 AEST, higher from 72.12 US cents at the close on Wednesday.
