NAB is supporting 72 of Kenneth Hayne’s 76 royal commission recommendations but says it wants to ensure the mortgage broking industry remains viable in the interest of customer choice.

Acting chief executive Philip Chronican says NAB will work with government and regulators to enable positive action on areas such as mortgage broker remuneration.

Federal government, lenders and brokers have opposed Commissioner Hayne’s recommendation that customers rather than lenders should pay brokers, and NAB says its stance is based on ensuring ‘customers have choice and get the best possible outcomes’.
