Stocks of interest at the close of trade on the ASX on Thursday, November 8:

NEC – NINE ENTERTAINMENT – unchanged at $1.68

FXJ – FAIRFAX MEDIA – unchanged at 62.5 cents

DHG – DOMAIN HOLDINGS – up three cents, or 1.2 per cent, to $2.49

The competition watchdog will allow the proposed merger between Nine Entertainment and Fairfax Media to go ahead.

NWS – NEWS CORP – up 77 cents, or 4.1 per cent, $19.29

News Corp has lifted first-quarter profit 48.5 per cent to $US101 million ($A138.8 million) despite a seven per cent fall in revenue at its Australian newspapers.

APT – AFTERPAY TOUCH – up $1.44, or 11.1 per cent, to $14.45

‘Buy now, pay later’ fintech Afterpay stocks soared after announcing it had signed up 300,000 consumers in the US in less than six months.

NAB – NATIONAL AUSTRALIA BANK – down 94 cents, or 3.6 per cent, to $24.93

NAB went ex-dividend on Thursday.

JHX – JAMES HARDIE – down $2.90, or 14.7 per cent, to $16.90

James Hardie’s first-half profit has risen 17 per cent but cut its full-year forecast range citing uncertain conditions in its key United States market.
