Stocks making moves or news on the ASX at the close on Thursday, September 20:

WOW – WOOLWORTHS – down 40 cents, or 1.4 per cent, at $27.30

WES – WESFARMERS – down 96 cents, or 2 per cent, at $49.75

Customers will pay more for home-branded milk at Coles and Woolworths stores with the levy to be passed on to dairy farmers gripped by drought.

SOL – SOUL PATTINSON – down $1.62, or 6 per cent, at $24

Soul Pattinson’s profit has fallen 20 per cent to $266.8 million compared to $333.1 million a year ago, despite gains across its portfolio.

RIO – RIO TINTO – up $2.70, or 3.6 per cent, at $78.10

Rio Tinto shareholders will reap a $US3.2 billion reward following the mining giant’s sale of its Queensland coal assets.

BHP – BHP – up 37 cents, or one per cent, at $32.77

BHP was buoyed by soaring copper prices and easing global trade tensions.

PMV – PREMIER INVESTMENTS -down 45 cents, or 2.3 per cent, at $19.

Premier Investments has seen its full-year net profit slump more than 20 per cent to $83.64 million after the Solomon-Lew backed company declared $30 million impairments on its casual wear group.
