Stocks making moves or news on the ASX at the close on Thursday, August 30:

TPM – TPG TELECOM – up $1.43, or 18.2 per cent, at $9.31

HTA – HUTCHISON TELECOMS – up 5.5 cents, or 44 per cent, at 18 cents

Vodafone Australia and TPG Telecom have announced plans to merge into a single $15 billion telecommunications giant.

RHC – RAMSAY HEALTHCARE – down $3.68, or 6.3 per cent, to $54.48

Australia’s largest private hospital operator has reported a 20.6 per cent fall in full-year profit.

VEA – VIVA ENERGY – down 5 cents, or 2.1 per cent, at $2.35

Recently listed oil refiner and service station owner Viva Energy’s half-year net profit has beaten prospectus forecasts on the back of inventory gains and higher oil prices.

AMP – AMP LIMITED – down 2 cents, or 6 per cent, at $3.38

S&P Global has downgraded its rating on AMP Life by one notch to ‘A+, and now has a negative outlook on the parent company in the latest fallout from the banking royal commission.

HVN – HARVEY NORMAN – up 2 cents, or 0.5 per cent, at $3.77

Consumer electronics retailer Harvey Norman will post full-year results on Friday.
