A $100 million iron ore mine in northwest Tasmania has been given the environmental green light by the federal government.

The open-cut mine south of Burnie is expected to create more than 200 jobs during construction and up to 100 permanent positions.

‘The Rogetta mine will deliver a significant boost to regional Tasmania, with the potential to generate export revenues of up to $100 million each year,’ Minister for Resources Guy Barnett said on Wednesday of the project by Forward Mining.
