Crown Resorts has settled on a board replacement for James Packer, who resigned in March to deal with mental health issues.

John Poynton – the current chairman of advisory firm Jindalee Partners, oil and gas explorer Strike Energy and cyber security firm SC8, and a member of the Future Fund – will fill Mr Packer’s position as a non-executive director once all regulatory approvals are received.

Crown chairman John Alexander said Mr Poynton is an experienced director who will make an excellent addition to the casino and resort operator’s board.

Mr Packer decided in March to take a break from all of his work commitments in order to focus on his health.
