Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange:

AGL – AGL LTD – up 27 cents, or 1.3 per cent, at $21.73

Alinta Energy has made a $250m cash offer to buy AGL’s Liddell power station in the NSW Hunter Valley.

AMP – AMP LTD – up two cents, or 0.5 per cent, at $4.04

AMP chair Catherine Brenner has resigned as the financial services giant continues to reel from the fee-for-no-service scandal at the royal commission.

AWC – ALUMINA – down three cents, or 1.1 per cent, at $2.64
