Billionaire James Packer has resigned as a director of casinos operator Crown Resorts because he is suffering from “mental health issues”, Consolidated Press Holdings said in a statement on Wednesday.

MYR – MYER HOLDINGS – up 1.5 cents, or 3.5 per cent, at 44.5 cents

Myer’s executive chairman has issued a damning indictment of the department store chain’s performance under ex-chief executive Richard Umbers after it slumped to a $476.2 million first-half loss.

NUF – NUFARM – up 40 cents, or 4.8 per cent, at $8.66

Nufarm Limited’s profit has fallen to $12 million, from $20 million a year ago, due to the impact of one-off acquisition costs.

RIO – RIO TINTO – up 63 cents, or 0.8 per cent, $75.86

Rio Tinto has struck a deal with Glencore to sell two Queensland coal projects for $1.7 billion.
