Bluescope steel is extending its existing share buy-back by another $150 million after lifting its first-half net profit by 23 per cent to $441.2 million and stands ready to benefit from a 25 per cent hike in US steel tariffs.
RFG – RETAIL FOOD GROUP – suspended from trade at $2.04
Gloria Jean’s, Donut King and Brumby’s Bakery’s embattled parent company, Retail Food Group, was suspended from trade on the ASX on Thursday after failing to lodge its half-year report in time. When it did report on Friday, the loss was almost $90 million and the stock will resume trade on Monday.
HVN – HARVEY NORMAN – down 69 cents, or 15.3 per cent, at $3.83
The retailer’s shares continued to fall after a slump on Wednesday, which was triggered by a 19 per cent drop in first-half profit under the pressure of higher costs and a diminished contribution from its huge property portfolio.
BGA – BEGA CHEESE – down 72 cents, or 9.7 per cent, at $6.67
Bega Cheese’s first-half net profit rose 31 per cent after the dairy processor boosted its milk intake and enjoyed a revenue boost from buying Vegemite from foreign owners.
STO – SANTOS – down 20 cents, or 3.9 per cent, at $4.92
Santos said production at its LNG Hides plant and Kutubu gas facilities in Papua New Guinea have been shut down following the magnitude-7.5 earthquake and aftershocks in the country’s southern highlands.
