A2M – THE A2 MILK COMPANY – up $3.18 cents, or 37 per cent, at $11.77

Shares in the dairy company gained this week, as analysts upgraded their rating on the stock after A2 doubled first-half profit and announced it had struck an alliance with dairy giant Fonterra.

QAN – QANTAS – up 51 cents, or 9.8 per cent, at $5.73

Qantas will hand over yet more cash to shareholders with another buyback after the carrier lifted first-half profit 18 per cent to $607 million.

NEC – NINE ENTERTAINMENT – up 45 cents, or 27.8 per cent, at $2.07

Stronger ratings and a dominant slice of the free-to-air TV revenue pie were behind a 55 per cent increase in Nine Entertainment’s half year underlying profit.

SWM – SEVEN WEST MEDIA – up 15 cents, or 30.6 per cent, at 64 cents

Seven West Media’s first-half profit jumped to $101 million, and the broadcaster has temporarily suspended its dividend and increased its cost saving targets.

WOW – WOOLWORTHS – down 13 cents, or 0.5 per cent, at $26.92

Woolworths outperformed Coles in sales and earnings growth, lifting first-half profit 37.6 per cent to $969 million after comparable food sales at its Australian supermarkets rose 4.9 per cent.
