Stocks to watch on the Australian stock exchange:

BHP – BHP BILLITON – up 24 cents, or 0.8 per cent, at $30.98

BHP Billiton’s production of copper and energy coal for the first half of the fiscal year is up, but volumes are flat in its iron ore business and petroleum and metallurgical coal volumes are down.

WHC – WHITEHAVEN COAL – down 18.5 cents, or 3.9 per cent, at $4.505

Whitehaven Coal has cut its full-year production guidance, despite output for the first half rising seven per cent to 10.9 million tonnes of saleable coal.

WPL – WOODSIDE PETROLEUM – down 30 cents, or 0.9 per cent, at $33.36

Woodside Petroleum’s total full-year production has dropped 11.1 per cent to 84.4 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe), in line with its October revised guidance of between 84 and 86 MMboe.
